We were told that this little house was owned by the same man and that he had his mother-in-law move into it and that he used to ferry her across by boat. Something about keeping your enemies close.....

Another great story that we were told was this.....

A man by the name of George Boldt who owned the Waldorf Estoria was holidaying on his boat around the islands and his steward prepared a lunch of salad for him and added a dressing that he just made up.  He included green peppers to represent the greenery around the islands and tomatoe sauce to represent the burning sunsets and then some mayo (can't remember why) but after he threw a few more bits and pieces in - et viola - 1000 Island Dressing.  George was so impressed with the salad, he named it and served it in the Waldorf.  The rest, as they say.........
