At about 5.15am The Massdam sailed under The Confederation Bridge, the controversial bridge that was completed in 1997 and finally connected Prince Edward Island to the provence of New Brunswick, and in turn the rest of mainland Canada. The bridge is 12.9kms across and the long time ferry catching PEI residents jokingly say "We're going to 'catch' the bridge to the mainland". Now, being that we went under it at 5.15am it is needless to say that we didn't see it. But a few hours later when it was an acceptable hour to wake up, we pulled into the Prince Edward Island port of Charlottetown.
