Through the Looking Glass

At the top there is a glass floor viewing area. The reinforced area for the glass is mad up of 23.5 square meters of glass. 5 times more than the required weight-baring standard for commercial floors. The surface is built to withstand the weight of 14 large hippos.

I want to know how they know that. Did they take 14 large hippos up there? And why did they say 14 LARGE hippos? Why not say 16 average sized hippos or even 20 small hippos? Are all large hippos created equally? Anyway, no matter how many hippos, big or otherwise could stand on it, you couldn't get me to walk over that glass!
