Life's a Beach!

I've read about this beach in many guide books and travel stories and always wanted to see it for real life - and here it is! In the summer months tons of sand is brought in and layed along the Seine to make it look like a beach. There are banana lounges and umbrellas and people selling ice cream and ball games being played etc.... People lay there in their bikinis and shorts. It does get very hot in Paris, so I can understand the want to be on some sand..... but the desire to dive in the water would be all too much. Not that it looks inviting at all, but to me - when you're on a beach, there should be swimmable water!
