And so our walk began. It was a walk that rivalled that of the 20km Olympic race walk. I'm a pretty fast walker, but when walking with Madds, it's game on! We ventured from our lovely hotel near the Eiffel Tower in the 7th Arrondissment down through the 6th and swiftly into the 5th where we stopped for a leisurely 2 hour lunch before embarking on the Mouffetard Marche'. This is a great street market with boulangeries, boucheries and fromageries as far as the eye could see..... Or just to the top of the street. We picked a few bits and pieces for our picnic dinner later on and continued on with our race.
9 long hours later, hot, read faced and starting to get a little narky, we passed a tiny little Irish Pub called Collins Pub that had cider on tap and the Olympics on the big screen. So wew called time on our race and sat down for a well earned drink or 3. We practiced our French with the friendly barman who seemed to be humouring us.
9 Kms in 9 hours, with lunch and drinks thrown in...... Is that an Olympic record?
