Whilst watching this incredibly dangerous sport where sticks are being smashed very close the faces of the players, we were told that helmets were only brought in last year. The amount of brain injuries that have possibly occurred in the 9000 years the game has been played is unimaginable!
As we collected information from different people in pubs, it was originally designed to help young boys learn how to use a sword and then it was turned into a sport. The chap who gave us this info used to play himself and said there was great debate over the use of the helmets for the top athletes likening it to wearing horse blinkers. If a ball was coming towards my head and speed they hit them, I think I'd rather not see it coming
